Frequently asked questions : Email us your questions Goto:
Mixing What can you do for my tracks? Will they sound like the quality I hear on my favorite artist's CD? Yes, I will make your tracks jump out of the speakers, with more clarity and punch, and they will have that "major label quality" you want**. You will be very happy with the end result or we will keep working until you are satisfied. **Remember that the quality of the original tracks and the performance within them does play an important part in the overall quality. If I receive a song and the drums were recorded with a single microphone placed somewhere in a bedroom, I will do my best to make it sound good, but it is less than ideal. ------------- What is the "1 song" offer all about? If you would like to hear an example of what I can do for your tracks, contact me and we'll set it up for you to have 1 song mixed/mastered. If you like it, Great, you will need to pay for that mix in order to receive the final of it for use. Then lets work out the details and mix your whole project. For the 1 song offer, we do asked that the song be under 4:30 in run time, but no limit on tracks. -------------- When I receive a mix from you to listen too, can I make revisions? Yes, Once I send you a mix, if there is anything you want to change about it, email me with your change requests. I will make the adjustments and send you a new revised version. Listen, and if needed, you can make more change requests. This process goes on until we have finished the mix to your satisfaction. 3 revision passes are included, after that, should anything be needed, it is billed at our standard hourly rate. Projects are kept securely on our system for 6 months giving you the options to make revision later down the road after you have a chance to listen to it for a few weeks and make sure you are happy with it. Revisions include anything to do with the mix/mastering part of our work, this does not include arrangement changes or songwriting changes, deleting parts or adding parts to see how it would sound... -------------- I'm not in Austin, But I want you to mix my project, can I send you my tracks to have you mix/master it? Yes, I receive projects in for mixing form all over the world. You can deliverer your project by DVD, CDR, ADAT optical, analog transfer or upload to our secure ftp server with or without non-loss compression. More on how to send us you tracks for mixing/mastering, please see our "How to export and deliver your session to us" page. -------------- What do you charge? See our Rates page --------------
Recording session questions
We don't need to use Eclectica's studio drum kit, but man your cymbals are great, can we use a few of them? Yes, and it's free of charge.
Assuming we all wanted to lay a scratch track first, how would that
be accomplished?
What do we need to bring? instruments, guitar amp and fx, no bass amp needed, it runs direct into the Manley pre, Keyboards if you have a keyboard player, drummer bring kit, unless using the studios, in which case bring your thrown, sticks, favorite snares, any special cymbals so we have lots to choose from.
What about getting in 15 minutes early to get the drums setup. Usually that's cool, contact me to arrange it all.
How long does drum kit setup, mic setup, and level check take? It you are in doing a demo, an hour, if you are in going after a final product/major league quality recording, it can take 1-4 hours. On projects that I am signed onto produce, 2-4 hours is very average. If you use the studio kit, all that is needed is time to balance it out and setup cue mixes (head phone mix)
Do you know how to properly tune drums? Yes
What about using a click track? I always prefer using a click. But its your choice. But when I am producing a project, I always use a click track and tempo lock the drums.
Do you have any pitch correction tools? Oh yeah. Samplitude has the best and most natural sounding Pitch Automation, and autotune for when you want that "Cher" effect.
Can we have someone in there taking pictures and video? Yes, please do!
